To commemorate the 50th year of Korea-Japan relations and the 10th anniversary of the birth of Hallyu stars, ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’-themed postage stamps will be available in Japanese post offices from the 24th of August, with reservations being taken from the 20th of July. The stamps will feature Park Yoochun, one of the biggest Hallyu stars in both Korea and Japan.
The stamps have a greater meaning for fans as they will be released three days before Park Yoochun’s military enlistment date, the 27th of August. It will also be a great opportunity for stamp collectors who collect Hallyu star drama series-themed stamps to expand their collections.
According to a representative, ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ is the drama that made JYJ’s Park Yoochun a Hallyu star as an actor, and fans are already showing a great positive response to the star’s first and only commemorative postage stamp set.
Postage stamps are valuable as keepsakes, and can be handed down to future generations as their value increases with the passing of time. The postage stamp set is extremely meaningful as it is meant to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Korea-Japan relations, as well as the 10th anniversary of the birth of Hallyu stars.
There is expected to be fierce competition to get the numbers 64 (Park Yoochun’s birthday) and 6002 (Park Yoochun’s nickname). There will also be a special prize for fans who get the stamps that feature a 4-digit code with consecutive numbers.
There will only be 10,000 sets available with never before seen photos, and the set will come with a drama making-book with unreleased photos and stories.
The postage stamps can be bought on Interpark and Yes24, and reservations will be taken from the 17th of July on official postage stamp sites (www.starstamp.co.kr, www.starstamp.jp, www.greentour.co.jp) in versions A and B.
