JYJ’s Junsu held his concert with a musical concept, stealing the hearts of 60,000 Japanese audiences.
On 25 May, C-Jes Entertainment stated, “The 33,000 seats from the Tokyo concerts, from 13-15 May, and the 30,000 seats from the Osaka concerts, from 22-24 May, of the “2014 XIA The Best Ballad Spring Tour Concert In Japan” were all sold out, proving (Junsu’s) high popularity.”
C-Jes also added, “The concert this time is different because the audience was able to hear the songs from the musicals which Junsu starred in, making it a meaningful stage. Overall, the response from the Japanese audience, who enjoy the musicals, was that ‘It was a stage of high quality’. The event ended as a great success.”
During the concert this time, Junsu sang musical numbers from hit musicals “Mozart”, “Elisabeth” and “December”, as well as ballads such as “I Love You” and “You Are So Beautiful”. He also performed Japanese songs, such as “Kanashimi no Yukue (悲しみのゆくえ)” and “Story”. In addition, during “Genie Time”, which has become a highlight in Junsu’s concerts, he also sang “The Time Has Come”, from the musical Jekyll & Hyde, at the requests of the audience.
Through this concert, Junsu stood on stage in front of 60,000 people in Tokyo and Osaka, and presented a dramatic performance of songs from his musicals, ballads, as well as drama OSTs.
The setup of the orchestra and the live band, the musical-like performance of the live stage, coupled with his appeal as a musical actor, drew enthusiastic cheers from the audience.
A representative from the Japanese concert organisers said, “The audience was also moved to see a stage which brought together all of Junsu’s charms. As a singer, Junsu is able to strike the perfect balance between dance and ballad songs, but the concert was also able to bring forth his unique character and outstanding skills in the field of musicals.”
Junsu will be returning to the musical stage after 4 months, with his appearance in the musical “Dracula” in July.
