Billboard highly praised TVXQ and said, “TVXQ! set new standards for both commercial and artistic success in the world of K-pop.”
Billboard released an article on the 22nd in their K-pop column which outlined their interview with TVXQ that took place in Korea and highlighted the success of TVXQ’s new album ‘Tense’.
Regarding TVXQ’s last ten years, Billboard said, “TVXQ! set new standards for both commercial and artistic success in the world of K-pop, but the duo doesn’t think it’s reached the pinnacle of its career and expresses its zeal to achieve higher goals.”
Billboard met with TVXQ’s U-Know Yunho and Max Changmin on the 18th and praised the duo, making comments like, “Their grueling schedule is packed, along with short interviews, which they carry out with boundless energy and without a single word or sign of complaint,” and “Despite their superstar status, the boys are grounded, diligent and driven, but with a loose demeanor and relaxed confidence like true K-pop veterans.”
Also mentioning the fact that ‘Something’ came in at 7th place on Billboard’s K-pop HOT100 Charts, Billboard called TVXQ’s ‘line performance’ “vibrant-yet-demanding” and also said, “‘Something’ shifted the group away from its signature sound, resulting in a promising display of creative growth as well as a new platform to express its playful stage personas, which was rarely exposed in previous promotions.”
They did not hold back on their praise for TVXQ as they said, “TVXQ!’s decade-anniversary mark and triumphant return onto the K-pop scene confirm its unceasing popularity and power as today’s most renowned K-pop artist.”
Meanwhile, TVXQ dominated all four major music shows, coming in at first place on ‘M! Countdown’ on the 16th, KBS 2TV’s ‘Music Bank’ on the 18th, MBC’s ‘Show! Music Core’ on the 18th and SBS’ ‘Inkigayo’ on the 19th.
