Kim Junsu’s ticket power has done it again.
The first round of ticket reservations for ‘December: The Song that Hasn’t Ended’ was held at 8pm on the 1st of November, and tickets for 40,000 seats (90%) of Kim Junsu’s performances were sold on this day.
C-JeS Entertainment stated, “90% of seats for Kim Junsu’s performances were sold during the first round of ticket reservations. The server crashed when 120,000 people logged onto the site for 90 minutes to reserve tickets, and the Sejong Culture Centre had to issue an apology for the crash. It truly was a war. Even when the server was back up, ticket sales were slow because it was still difficult to access the reservation page.”
They continued to add, “This is the most number of seats that have been released at one time for a Kim Junsu performance since he made his debut in 2010. Despite the fact that this is a brand new musical that no one has ever seen before, Kim Junsu was able to sell 40,000 tickets in one night, making this yet another record for the books.”
A representative of the musical stated, “Kim Junsu was able to sell 90% of the tickets for his performances in the first round, and considering the fact that there is a second round of ticket reservations coming up, Kim Junsu is set to sell out all 55,000 seats for his performances, the biggest number of audience members he’s ever greeted for a single production.”
This representative also continued to explain, “The first round of ticket reservations did not include any tickets for seats with limited view, meaning that there will be more seats available in the second round of reservations.”
Kim Junsu crashed the server and topped search rankings in various portal sites once ticket reservations began, proving yet again that he is the undisputed king of ticket power in the industry.
Kim Junsu has been making history in the Korean musical industry. In 2010, he became the first actor to sell out all 15 performances of his ‘Mozart!’ performances, with each show seating 3,000 people, and sold out all 40,000 seats of his musical concert at the Olympic Park Gymnasium in 20 minutes.
In 2011, he was able to sell out all of his performances for ‘Tears of Heaven’ in February, ‘Mozart!’ in June and ‘Elisabeth’ as well.
Kim Junsu won the Best Musical Actor Award at the 18th Korea Musical Awards and sold out all 30,000 seats of his performances during this year’s rendition of ‘Elisabeth’.
‘December’ will open its curtain on the 16th of December at the Sejong Culture Centre.
