TVXQ have topped the Japanese Oricon weekly album charts.
TVXQ’s new Japanese album ‘TIME’ was released on the 6th and immediately topped the Oricon daily album charts, and has now also topped the weekly charts. This is TVXQ’s third album to top the weekly album charts since their ‘Best Selection 2010’ (February, 2010) and ‘TONE’ (November, 2011) albums.
Their latest album has drawn much attention for selling 244,000 copies in its first week. This is the most that TVXQ have sold in their first week with one album. ‘TIME’ is also the second consecutive album by TVXQ to sell over 200,000 copies in its first week after ‘TONE’ (sold 205,000 copies in its first week), and proved just how popular they still are in Japan.
Regarding this, Oricon reported, “This is the first time in five years and eleven months that an overseas artiste had two consecutive albums that sold over 200,000 copes in their first week since Avril Lavigne’s ‘Best Dam Thing’. This is also the first time in twelve years and ten months that an overseas group has achieved the feat since Bon Jovi’s ‘Crush’, and this makes TVXQ the second overseas group to do so.”
